There won’t be any new OCONNOBLOG posts this week as I helplessly pick away at taxes, but if you haven’t yet checked out my pieces on pop culture website RetroZap, be sure to click the links below.
My first piece is for a column called Power to the Prequels! and it focuses on the unconventional relationship between Anakin Skywalker and Padme Amidala in Attack of the Clones. I argue that the lack of romance between these two may be the key to understanding one of the more awkward but also most fascinating elements of the Star Wars prequel trilogy.
My second piece is the inaugural installment of Bond Night, which aims to take readers through the entire film franchise of James Bond, starting with the very first entry, Dr. No. I detail some behind-the-scenes information, offer up some different views of the film, and explain how you can start your own Bond Night with friends or family by pairing the films with a cuisine and cocktail that evoke the spirit of the story or the region where the film is set.
And, finally, I waded into the controversy of the Batman v Superman film by offering my brief review of the film. You can check it out on RetroZap along with three other reactions from regular RetroZap contributors Dennis Keithly, Bill Drewnowski, and Courtney Martin.
As always, thanks for reading!
